Things I Love & Hate about Macs
I Love
- The fonts and everything about it´s design
- Dragging windows around is smooth in a way you´ll never experience using any other OS
- Super hiper ultra fast thumbnail generation, even in folders with tons of files
- Every web page looks much, much better
- The “show me everybody together” windows arrangement when you click F9 (or both side keys if you own a mighty mouse)
I Hate
- Apple Tech Support Sucks…, no way you can get anything done in less than 2 weeks
- OSX has no native support to my keyboard layout(ABNT2), and it took me a week to find one
- The Update system is awful: it´s veeery slow and if anything happens you have to restart from the beginning.
- Frontrow only plays videos with Quicktime
- Quicktime doesn´t support playing subtitles loaded from an external file.
- Why is it so hard to set an application to auto start – update – it’s not hard, I just couldn’t find the option.
- That there´s no very simple & fast way to resize a picture
I´ll keep adding to this list as things keep coming to my knowledge…

More of a question… rather panic, than comment.
I recently lost my entire address book. At the time was locked up (not responding) and I chose to do a force quit. After that, the only enries I had left were the one for Apple and my own. I (unwisely) do not have a back up of the info. I have (perhaps unwisely again) used my email (Apple Address Book) to store data that was important. Is there anything you could advise that I do to TRY to recover all this information? HELP!

It hapenned to me once and what I did was moving the file AddressBook.data (this is the corrupted file) to the desktop and renaming the file AddressBook.data.previous (which should a backup of your address book) to AddressBook.data.
These files should be at /HardDrive/Users/YourUsername/Library/Application Support/AddressBook

Hi Gustavo,
for playing subtitle in the QuickTime and give more support on Front Row seach for Perian (http://perian.org/) i think it can help you on using subtitle .. I think there is a configuration on Quick TIme to load external subtitle but I don’t remember …
